2025: Tom's Top Ten
My 10 favorite records of 2025 (in no particular order):
| 1. Weep Wave – Speck
Great Seattle rock in the area of punk, dream-pop, psyche-rock and garage rock. The producer Jack Endino worked on this one, and we all know how great of a job he does. |
| 2. Taste Testors – Taste Testors
More excellent Seattle punk. It’s only 18 minutes long, and there’s plenty of Ramones spirit, plus some doo-wop flavor and bubblegum pop, too. |
| 3. Lions Law – Evermore
The Paris street punks bring their Oi! ways to charged guitars, gruff singing and a really fun Flock Of Seagulls cover. |
| 4. Chad Price Peace Coalition – A Perfect Pearl
The onetime singer for pop-punk legends All, these days Chad Price is on the alt-country side of the spectrum with plenty of grit and folk music for the aging punks. |
| 5. Zephr – Past Lives
The Denver outfit pen a masterpiece in the area of punk and hardcore, where both hard hitting sounds and introspection draws parallels to legends like Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker or The Lawrence Arms. |
| 6. Unlettered – Five Mile Point
The brainchild of Mike Knowlton, as Unlettered he creates droning post punk that’s dissonant, hypnotic, and noisy yet melodic in his own way. |
| 7. Drop Nineteens – 1991
A lost album from of shoegaze from 1991 by the Boston band Drop Nineteens, this recording landed them a record deal, where bands like Radiohead and The Cranberries opened for their timeless brand of dream-rock. |
 | 8. Pinhead Gunpowder – Unt
Billie Joe from Green Day’s other band, Pinhead Gunpowder have been around since ’92 and uses an all star cast of members from Monsula, Chino Horde and Crimpshrine for scrappy and mature pop-punk. |
 | 9. 999 – Emergency At The Old Waldorf 1979
An early recording of the English band 999, these 17 wild tracks parallel the intensity of The Buzzcocks, Sex Pistols or The Clash. |
 | 10. Slamdinistas – Wild & Restless
Somewhere between punk, blues and country, this sophomore album from Slamdinistas recruits plenty of rawness and energy with sing-alongs and anthemic moments. |
