Here are some more quick picks for you, the loyal reader:

xjapan_220MUSIC: X JAPAN – With a record-breaking 18 sell-outs of the 50,000-capacity Tokyo Dome to their credit, X JAPAN is arguably the most successful rock band in the history of Japan. Most artists would be content to relish in their domestic success, yet X JAPAN opted for their first U.S. tour this year, 28 years after their formation. Led by flamboyant drummer/pianist/composer Yoshiki, the group brought their full-scale production to the States, presenting it in front of a surprisingly-capacity crowd at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom. Given X JAPAN’s recent media appearances in everywhere from ABC News to USA Today, the most shocking result would be if there were not another U.S. tour by these global superstars. SERIES: Men Of A Certain Age – Cable networks have been delivering top-shelf TV dramas for a few years now (e.g. Mad Men, Rescue Me, Breaking Bad), and TNT’s Men Of A Certain Age is yet another example of that. Starring Ray Romano, Andre Braugher, and Scott Bakula, the series focuses on three life-long middle-aged friends individually in the midst of problems like divorce, addiction, and career dissatisfaction. Despite the serious themes, this is a dark comedy and there are laughs to be had in every episode. Full episodes of Season 1 can be watched at the link below, while Season 2 premieres on December 6th.  (tnt.tv/series/menofacertainage)

TOOL: Roommates Wanted NYC – Founded by Jeff Orlick and Dene Farrell, Roommates Wanted NYC is essentially speed-dating for people seeking new roommates. Instead of finding people via Craigslist, the site organizes evening and weekend events for people to meet face to face and determine their potential compatibility as co-inhabitants. Some events have no cover while others are $5, but many of these gatherings include drink specials –- either way, no need to RSVP. Be sure to keep an eye out for the site to be launching in other markets. (roommateswantednyc.com)
